One-to-One Care Ministry

One-to-One Care is a new name for a ministry that has been active at our church for over 35 years: Stephen Ministry. One-to-One Caregivers are lay people who have been fully trained in the Stephen Ministry program and are there to help walk alongside of those who are experiencing a life crisis, such as:

  • Death of a loved one
  • Divorce, break up, broken relationships
  • Pregnancy, child birth, post-birth challenges
  • Miscarriage and infertility
  • Family
  • Caregiver stress
  • End of life, hospice
  • Long-term illness, disability
  • Financial difficulties
  • Major life transition (relocation, blended family, empty nest, retirement, move to assisted living)
  • Military deployment of a loved one
  • The aftermath of a natural or human-caused disaster

One-to-One Caregivers are trained in active listening, confidentiality, boundaries, and being a non-anxious presence for those going through a crisis. They are there to listen and to walk with you on your journey of healing, with God at the center.

How Can I Get a One-to-One Caregiver?

To receive care from a One-to-One Caregiver, please contact Pastor Kellen Smith by email or by calling the church office at 630-668-5147. Please note that the ministry is not available to minors.

What Can I Expect When I Receive Care from a One-to-One Caregiver?

One-to-One Ministry leaders prayerfully consider your situation and match you with the best One-to-One Caregiver available for your needs. Men are paired with men and women are paired with women. A One-to-One Caregiver will meet with you once a week for about an hour to listen, care, and encourage you on your emotional and spiritual journey and see you through to its completion.

How Do I Get Involved in Being a One-to-One Caregiver?

New One-to-One Caregivers are trained as the need arises. If you would like to become a One-to-One Caregiver, please contact ministry leaders Bob Young or Diane Easter, for more information.
