GENESIS
GENESIS SUNDAY SCHOOL - Bible 101

What boy was almost sacrificed as an act of faith by his Father?  Whose hip was dislocated in a wrestling match with God?  Which teenager was thrown into a pit of wild animals for breaking the law by praying to God?  What man, who ate only locusts and honey, was also Jesus' cousin?  What man's daughter was raised from the dead because of his great faith in Jesus?

Do you know the answers to these questions?  Does your youth?  How can we know of God's faithfulness if His story isn't learned in Sunday school?  LOGOS is
coming to an end, but our Christian education program isn't.  Come to Sunday School each Sunday, 9:50-10:50 a.m., up in Stewart Hall.  Donut smorgasbord starts at 9:30 a.m.  Don't miss out: see you there!

THE PROCLAIMERS

“Using the Performing Arts to Worship God”

I have some exciting news for Youth that attend The First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton.  It is the program called The Proclaimers – “Using the Performing Arts to Worship God.”  The program will run from 4:30 – 5:00 PM on every Wednesday that LOGOS is in session.  This music / drama program for Middle School is an option that you can select to have your youth involved in as part of the LOGOS program at First Presbyterian Church.  Who knows where this great program could take your youth in the future.  The Proclaimers started on Wednesday, October 7, 2009.

You may register your child for the Proclaimers online:  Register for Global Singers

If you have any questions about this exciting program or have not yet had a chance to register, please contact David Lincoln at 630-668-5147 (ext. 22); or you can send an e-mail to dlincoln@firstpreswheaton.org.

LOGOS

LOGOS 2009 - 2010, our mid-week ministry for young people in Kindergarten through 8th grade, began on Wednesday, October 7, and continues through March 24.  LOGOS meets on Wednesday evenings from 5:00-7:30 p.m.

LOGOS CLOSING CELEBRATION - Wednesday, March 24 - Parents are invited to join us for pizza at the closing celebration.  Please RSVP to Shelley or Mary so we have the right amount of food.  We will also have a talent show at 6:30 p.m.

Logos themes for October 2009 through March 2010 are online.

The goal of the ministry is to nurture a relationship with Jesus Christ and Christian relationships with peers and adult leaders. This is accomplished through a four-part program that includes Bible Study, Worship Skills, Recreation, and a family-style dinner. The program requires a commitment from each participating family to support the ministry financially and with their time and talents.

The whole church family is invited to pray for our LOGOS ministry as we nurture our young people in their relationship with Jesus Christ.  Your prayers are a very important part of this ministry.  Please pray that those who love God and kids will be able to share their time and their gifts ~ that the hearts and minds of our young people will be open to God ~ and that those who do the planning will be creative and be led by God’s spirit.

Since LOGOS is a relational ministry, the ratio of adults to young people is very important.  There are opportunities for all to be involved!  LOGOS teaches us that there are “bones” that can’t be broken if we want to do this ministry effectively.  One of those bones is that parents of children who participate need to support the ministry in some way.  Also ~ adults who are not parents are also welcome to be part of the fun, the excitement, and the spiritual development of our youth.
